About Sriharikota (Shar Center)
Sriharikota is a barrier island in the Andhra Pradesh state of India. It is most famous as the home of India's only satellite launch center.Sullurpeta is the nearest town to Sriharikota. It is about 20 km away. Sullurpet is fairly well-connected to Chennai, which is about 80 km from there. To get to Sullurpet from Chennai, get to the CMBT(Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus) at Koyambedu in Chennai. Buses to Nellore, Tada etc. will most probably take you to Sullurpet. You will find most of these buses on Platform 3(Bus Bay No. 18, 19). The travel time from CMBT to Sullurpet is 2 hours, along NH 5, a four-lane road. Once at the Sullurpet bus stand, get to the 'SHAR'(Sriharikota Range)bus stand, which is about a kilometer or two away.Also there are Few Colonies Belonging to SHAR Center Near Sullurpeta , namely DOS Colony , Pulicat Nagar (KRP Colony) and DRDL .

About Sullurpet
Sullurpeta or Sulurpet is a town in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh state, India. It is the mandal headquarters for sullurpeta mandal. Other names used Sullurpet. Its pin code is 524121.
The origin of name "sullurpeta" came from "sullu" meaning rounds or circles and "peta" meaning town. Goddess Chengalamma, a grama devata or shakti has a temple in Sullurpeta. Legend goes that chengalamma idol was found in the near by river by few boys who were swimming and they brought it to the current location.
